planing
Does anyone know of a book, video, site or any other information source that would help me with an exact (or almost) reference about the proper motor angle when on plane. My understanding is that the engine should be trimmed out to be vertical and the propeller to be at right angles to the surface of the water for best performance. I'm thinking of installing a trim gauge onto my 190 Bay, which is equipped with a 115 hp Evinrude with hydrofoil attaached.
Without some frame of reference I keep fiddling with the trim switch searching for I know not what. I normally cruise at around 3500 rpm and the boat goes 22-25 mph.
I've gotten all kinds of advice including don't trim the engine out at all to trim it back until the boat "popoises" and then adjust.
Anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks in advance
