Excellent point Fishahn. Osprey Vic wanted the larger displays and did a very nice job of installing them on his 215 highlighted in his article on mods done to their boat:
Additions & Modifications to our 2005 Triumph 210

But he had to remove the console cover in order to do it. I wanted as large a display as I could get on my new 215 without removing the console and I did not want to add an electronics box on the t-top. So I went with the Furuno 1724C Radar/GPS unit and had Merritt Marine mount all the electronics on a removable piece of Starboard. I can lock the console with the electronics in it or I can disconnect them and remove for security or storage. I modified the setup that Merritt did for me seen here:
First look at my new 215 Chaos tomorrow!

I cut another piece of starboard then mounted the Furuno 1724C, VHF, Autopilot and a new Furuno FCV620 color fishfinder in it. I moved the CD/Radio back to its original position in the back of the console so it is always mounted. With the space created by removing the Radio from the electronics mount in the photos, I cut out a "reach in" space so I can control the CD/Radio, insert/eject CD's, etc all while the electronics mount is in place. I'll try to take some new photos and post soon. It really worked out well. I've got a pretty large color display that I can lock in the console or easily remove for storage and the electronics don't bounce around like they would if mounted in the console with base mounts.

Here is a photo of the new starboard cut out for electronics. The open space in the middle is the reach in for operating the CD/Radio or putting stuff in the console behind the electronics. I'll try to get a picture mounted in the boat in the next few days.
