You can buy both filter and mount at West Marine for under $30. The filter will be a Mercury cartridge, replaceable at about $7. You will need to go to the hardware store and buy the hose fittings for the intake and exit appropriate to the size of your fuel line along with two hose clamps.

1. Screw in plugs and hose fittings to filter head using teflon tape as a seal.
2. Mount filter head to an appropriate place close to where your fuel line is currently routed.
3. Cut fuel line after the squeeze bulb and where it will slide on to the intake of the filter head.
4, Drop a hose clamp over the hose and then slide it onto the intake fitting. Tighten the hose clamp.
5. Drop a hose clamp over the end of the hose where it goes to the engine, slip it onto the exit fitting and tighten the hose clamp.
6. Rub a light coating of oil on the o-ring at the top of the filter and then fill the filter with gasoline within a quarter inch of the top.
7. Screw the filter in place and tighten a quarter turn past hand tight. (Read manufacturer's instructions to confirm)
8. Squeeze the squeezebulb to move the bubbles out of the line.
9. When starting engine, look for leaks in fittings and filter O-ring.
10. Change at the beginning of a new season or more often if conditons warrent.
