I was told by the dealer that I could get an electric trolling motor but it wouldn't work on my boat because of the bow rail. Does any one know if a trolling motot can be mounted on the stern?

Happy boating to all!
First, congratulations on the 170CC. You're going to love it!! What better way to enjoy the day than taking your son fishing. It's a bond that will last a lifetime. As for the trolling motor (TM) you have a couple of options. One is to remove the bow rail and install the TM on the bow. But with the age of your son that may not be an option you're considering. There are aftermarket brackets that you can mount on the transom onto which you could mount the TM. Here's the link to one such bracket from boatersworld:

Check around and I'm sure you'll finds several other options. There are also trolling motors that mount directly onto your big engine that you use your steering wheel to control. Here's a link to cabelas with several options:

So, as you can see, you have lots to choose from. You just have to decide which option is best for you and your situation. Let us know what you come up with. I hope this helped.
