Hi Captains and Mates. I have been a member sinces I got my 2006 215 in December of last year but this is my first post.
I really love my boat but I wasen't ever comfortable setting at the helm running the boat. My feet would not touch the deck or the molded foot rest built into the console while setting back in the drivers set. The steering wheel was to far away to reach while setting back in the set so I was aways setting on the front edge of the seat so that I could reach the stearing wheel and my feet still would not touch the deck. By the end of a day of running and fishing my back would be hurting and the back of my legs would be burning from setting on the edge of the seat. Even with the leaning post installed it wasen't any better because there wasent enough room between the post and the steering wheel. Now I am six feet tall and it was bad on me but my wife is only 4 feet 11 inches tall and it was killing her.
My buddy runs a Triumph boat sales in Southport, NC and I spend a lot of time there. The new 2007 Triumphs started comeing in and while we where unloading them I noteiced that the 2007 215 had a fold down foot rest on the console so I had to check it out. I got in the drivers seat and folded the foot rest down and found that this was so much better and much more comfortable. I also noticed that the steering wheel seemed to be higher-up and closer to me than my boats stearing wheel but it was the same wheel as mine. I started looking at the differance and this is what I found.
Triumph added the fold down foot rest that helped a lot but they also lowered the seats 3 1/2" by cutting the seat post down.
Lowering the seats puts the steering wheel higher and puts your knees under the steering wheel while setting.
I called Triumph and ordered a fold down foot rest. Installed it and cut my set post down 3 1/2".
The wife and I took the boat out yesterday and ran off shore 25 miles, King fished for 5 hours and ran back. We spent 8+ hours on the boat and you would not belive the differance it made. We where so much more comfortable I could not belive it. It is a totality different boat. It was always a great boat but now it is a great comfortable boat.
I don't know if you are having the same problem that I had but if you are try this quick fix.
