I have the perko switch on my 191 FS mounted in the battery compartment. I am only using two batteries right now so there was no space issues. I mounted it against the inner wall that backs up against the fuel tank compartment. The location is good because I can reach in easily when the boat is covered to switch it off when it is being stored.
I also installed the garmin 398 last summer. It fits nicely underneath the windshield. The only drawback is you can't view it from the front of the boat. It's not really a big deal for me because I tend to fish off the back most of the time anyway. The 398 is exactly what I wanted. During the summer, details of the lakes come in handy. I purchased the blue chart card that covers the San Francisco bay area all the way down to Mexico. Now I have detailed maps of the California Delta, which is where I do most of my fishing and detailed maps of the lakes, which is where I do most of my playing. I can take a few pictures of the installation next time I have the boat at the house (hopefully full of fish next week!) if you're interested.
