Wayne was going to put the same rod holders on my boat that you have. They definitely look to be that ticket. Thanks for showing them to me a few weeks ago.
The update on the 178C went easily. The software version on the unit was 2.40 and the current version is 2.60. You can check you software version by going to the "Setup" tab on the unit and going down to "System Information". It should read: "Software Version 2.60". If you need to update it, I have a blank 32mb card and card reader you can borrow. It took about 5 minutes.
