235 Cc
I have read the post on the 235 and debated if I wanted to make a comment or not. I finally decided that I would. First of all Triumph ask us to come and look at the drawings and give our thoughts on it before they put it into production. There was several things that we thought should be different. One was the fish boxes in the front. We felt they should be level all the way across. I don't know how many of you have fished a tournament in 5-7 foot seas and tried to stand on the front seat to throw the net to get bait. You sometimes have trouble keeping your balance when it is that rough and you don't need to be worrying if you are going to be stepping back into a hole. And when it is that rough you sometimes need to be able to grab hold of something real fast to keep from going over when you are trying to throw a 12 ft net. So that is when the high bow rail has come in handy. I think it has kept me from throwing J.R. in the water several times. So I feel like that should be an option of low or high bow rails.
I don't think that the boat should be tested in Florida. Our 215 gets run pretty hard when we are fishing tournaments and we have been able to find out what will hold up and what won't. It needs to be tested off the Carolina coast in our rough seas to get a true test as to how it will hold up.
Some other things are, where is the cooler, how big is the gas tank, how big is the live well, what is the beam, what is the draft, t-top height for us short people, how many rod holders, inside height of center console, fishing room. Will it ride as well as the the 215? Is this going to be portrayed more as a fishing or pleasure boat? When I say fishing I am talking about tournament or for the die hard fishermen or ladies?
When I look at the pictures I see things that I think will not work for what we do but I want to reserve comment until I actually see the boat for myself before I decide what will or won't. The true test for me will be when we are in a tournament and running hard to keep up with some of our friends that are in bigger boats.
We have waited a long time for the 235 now is it going to be worth the wait and will it be the boat we need for what we do and will we be able to afford it? And will Triumph be openminded to our suggestions as they were on the the 215 when we ask them to change the mega hatch lid, bait well lid, etc.
We keep trying to win a tournament so we can give Triumph boats the recognition that they deserve. Maybe one of these days it will happen. For now I will be open-minded until I actually see the boat. Anybody know when that will be? I told Triumph we could be the research and development team and see how good it is.
