I had an older Chaperelle prior to my Bay 190....hard to compare but it was fiberglass and it developed a crack in the bow and the old Evinrude 2stroke smoked and sputtered like all other 2 strokes made in the 1970's!

Fast forward to 2002 when I bought my second boat. The motors are all fine and very expensive! Many of the "fiberglass" boats are not much fiber and alot of composite putty. If you want a shiny boat, you can wipe-down a Triumph with "Wet-n-Shine".

Lifetime transferable warranty is a big selling point, unsinkable and easy to maintain, esp if this will be his first boat.....just like your first car....they usually take a little more of a beating!
