75 hp. 4-stroke too much weight?
Stated on past postings (too many times, I'm sure) that I have a 2002 170 CC with an 80 hp. 4-stroke Yam. This year the boat was rated at max 90 hp. Still have the 2002 sales brochure. This motor weighs 384 lbs. per owner's manual.
At rest in the water the boat sits a bit down by the stern with a bow mount 12 v. 55 lb. thrust Minnkota in place and full of fuel. Trim tabs were installed when boat was delivered new. Went through part of one season with tabs not operating due to dash switch failure. 100 percent covered by Bennett on warranty.
To the point, No trouble planning. No major bow rise if motor trim is used and this boat will jump up when tabs and motor trim are used together. My prop gives me 5,000 rpm at WOT. A Michigan SS wheel but I don't remember the specs. Range from manual is 5-6,000 rpm @ WOT. Typically 38 mph WOT on GPS. Really don't use all the horses very often. Cruise 28 mph @ 3,400 rpm.
