IMHO, it's always best to maximize horsepower, you never know when it will be needed, we use our little 170cc for offshore all the time, and if it's get's rough you can power up on the swells easily to get back in dry, you can change the puter and get 90HP out of a 75 yammie 4 stroke too, major speed
increase too. There is never enough power to weight ratio, I highly recommend the 4 stroke 75 Yamaha, can talk at WOT, the wind in your face is louder than the droning of the motor, and at trolling speeds just licks gas all day long. I have owned all the motors in the past, and I swear by the Yamaha stroker, and we have been in some really scary stuff 30 miles out off of Palm Beach, We are here to write about it partly on it's reliability. That's a Fact!!
