feejer, there is no high speed pick up on a 170cc, it will only pick up at very low speeds or at rest, It is located on the transom on the starboard side about 4 inches above the chine. It will not affect the baitwell storage anyway if it's not turned on by a switch on the helm. I put a tee in my pump to be able to use the pump as raw water washdown, ( see my photo gallery) There are no protrusion or holes in the boat below the water line on a 170cc unless somebody other than the factory put it there.
