Rebellious Trolling Motor Foot Control

I finally had a chance to take my new (to me) boat out for some fishing, after several outings to just "get the feel" for things. I've got a Motor Guide 46 lb thrust bow mount trolling motor with a foot control. I found that it was very difficult to keep the control from scooting around the front casting deck, since there is quite a bit of tension from the cable bundle. Seems the cable wants to move the pedal towards the front of the boat, out of reach of my pedestal seat. Since we use the boat for pleasure cruising as well as fishing, and often have the front cushion in place, I'd like to avoid fastening the pedal permanently to the deck.

Wondering if anyone else has experienced this, and what solution you may have come implemented.
