Use your bass lures and rods/reels for inshore speck and red fishing. Might add some jigs, DOA shrimp, popper corks, Zara Spooks, Shad Raps etc.

Offshore, consider Penn Senator 113 high speed reels and rods. They are on sale right now at WestMarine and Boater's World and have proven themselves for decades. Get Two and spool them with 30lb Berkley Big Game clear line which is cheap. You can get a few grouper rigs/leaders with lead weights already attached and vary the size and/or use flurocarbon leader pending on how spooky the fish are that day.

For trolling, just use the sam Senator 113H and buy any trolling lure you want and stick a cigar minnow in the back of it. Also try a Mann's 30+Stretch lure.
