Handling issues on 170 CC

Over the past six weeks or so there were comments and running threads on the handling experiences and questions on the 170 boats. I had a four days on the water scheduled for last week and waited for that time to attempt to duplicate some of the owner observations.

Bow rise on the hole shot with my boat (80 hp. f-stroke Yam.) occurs if the motot is trimed up too high. Trimed all the way down or neutral, minimal bow rise.

The darting at about 4,000 r.p.m. could be experienced with the motor trimed all the way down. A bit unsettling but with the motor trimed up to neutral or a couple of bars above, I could not make it happen.

Will say again (earlier threads), Bennetts down, motor neutral to down and she pops up flat and level under three boat lengths. And I can stay on plane at 15-17 mph at 2,800 rpm using trim and tabs. This boat has a Doel fin.

All these attempts to replicate the experiences discussed within the previous postings were with 3/4 fuel or more, two 200 lb. men and fishing gear on board. The 170 is a nimble little boat that serves my needs well. And there are still oyster bars around Chokoloskee, FL. Plastic is good...

Hope these notes help other 170 owners.
