Most people will not place the word "refined" and Tough" together. More often, people would place tough together with rugged, bulky, and harsh. Given that we have the "toughest boat in the world" and the way that they look, I personally think it is a beautiful boat, bearing in mind Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
So I say the next time you see something on your boat that looks as if it could have been polished a little more, I ask you at the same time to look at the spot where you most recently "kiss" a dock, trailer or whatever. Somehow I think you will be smiling in the end.
