Hey guys, I thought I would chime in on this for what it is worth. I am an Amsoil user since 1981. I have used it in all my vehicles, gas and diesel, 2wd and 4wd. In fact my vehicles are lubricated from bumper to bumper with Amsoil products - differentials, transfer cases, transmission, and engine. Every marine engine I have had since then has run Amsoil. I also use their lower unit lubricant in the gear case. That includes I/O, oil-injected 2 stroke, and pre-mix 2 stroke. The pre-mix 2 strokes have all been run at Amsoil recommended mix ratio of 100:1 instead of the factory 50:1. I still have a 1988 Evinrude 88 SPL running at 100:1. It runs like a top, starts right up with very little smoke (choke on), and no smoke when running. I have not had a 4 stroke outboard, but I will run Amsoil if I buy one. I also run Amsoil 2 stroke oil at 100:1 in my weedeater, blower, and chain saws regardless of the manufacturers recommendations. I got tired of having a bunch of cans of gas around at different mix ratios. I have only one can @100:1. They all start right up and run with no smoke. They do not gum up over the winter even though I don't run them dry before storage. At my business I run Amsoil in all my vehicles, gas drive welder, floor sweeper and lift trucks. I have never had a lubrication related failure. I know there are people out there on different forums that trash Amsoil just as there were some here that bashed Triumph boats, but from my 26 years experience using Amsoil it is an excellent product. As for cost - around $8.00/qt. retail is not bad for the best synthetic oil on the market. Their oil filters are also among the best I have seen.
In the interest of full disclosure, I am a dealer. However, I became a dealer in order to be able to buy directly from Amsoil for myself and my company. I have never sold the product at retail prices although I have bought a lot of it over the years. I already run one business that requires 70+ hours a week. I don't have time for another. If and when I retire I may reconsider - or I may just go fishing! The fishing will probably win. It is an excellent opportunity for someone with the time and the sales ability to earn money because it is a first class product. I am posting this just to tell my experience using Amsoil over a long time. Other people may have different opinions and that is okay with me.
