As for the plate, such devices are sold by some OEM's to address such issues

But not all engines or hulls (pontoons and maybe some cat hulls) would not need one thus, no need to re-engineer every engine's lower unit for such.

Some OEM's (Yamaha and Honda) are also now starting to re-design for install, lower units for higher speeds (another BMS knock off) like mine now has, but that does not mean that all boats would need that upgrade either
