Some words of praise...

I got permission from Mud Runner to cut and paste his post here, thought you folks would appreciate a positive thread.

I work for the Navy at the MWR ( Morale Welfare and Recreation) Marina. We have 8 of them at work. We rent them on a daily basis. 5 are 170CC and 3 re 170 Bass boats. The CC's have Yami F60 anf the bass boats have 50 four stroke Hondas. The CC's would be better served with the F75. The 60's are slow to plane but run about 38mph with three aboard and full fuel (23 gals) The bass boats run like a cat with a scalded AZZ!. I've personally used the CC for a back water speckle trout tournament and and burned 4 gals for the day. That said, if you need Lexus fit and finish, look elsewhere. The down side: We haven't had any screw issues or hatch issues. We did have nuts back off from the Yami control mounting bolts because Triumph didn't use lock washers (go figure). The bilge are has to be looked at and washed in a regular basis. If you need to paint the bottom, it's a pain process better left to the dealer. It's expensive because it's a slow process requiring a chemical to make the paint stick. The plug in running lights are a pain and we're replacing them with fix mount lights. A power washer and soft scrub keeps them clean. The boats are always in demand and I wish we had more. We will probably get some 19's to rent and two 21's for our work boats. To attest to their toughness, we actually did a toughboat test but not intentionally. The manager and I were out towing a saiboat off a sandbar. On the way back we decided to buzz the admiral's boat (not the wife). We were OK till we went on either side of it. The problem was, we both decided to cut behind the stern at the same time. You guessed it. Impact at full speed! Not a scratch, just a few loose fillings. You either love them or hate them. The 170CC at $12, 995 out the door with trailer, bimini, inexpensive fish finder, swim platform and trailer can't be beat. I have a 28 Scout and had issues that made people call me a liar and a Scout basher. The answer is that there is no perfect boat. We love them and they serve us well. They do what they were designed to do. If they fit your bill, the **** with what people think. Like any boat, research your dealer well. Good luck with whatever you decide.
