Sealed the "banana" boards
Early this summer, I found that when my wife and I were tying up to a dock, adjusting fenders, etc. with both of us on one side, water backed up through the "ping pong ball" scuppers into the cockpit. After some time passed, most of it went somewhere. I guessed most went back out the scupper drains when we left the boat and it leveled. However, I wanted to see if any went below the "banana boards" and just what was down there, anyway.
Upon removing the boards, I discovered the black gasketing was messed up and allowed water into the semi-triangular space under the boards. The water was standing there because drain holes to the bilge were clogged.
To fix this problem "once and for all" I cleaned up all the black mess and re- installed the boards using the Rule Elastomeric adhesive and added an additional hold down screw between each existing pair. Someone one on one of these threads suggested the extra screw. The combination of the extra screws and the adhesive undoubtedly has reduced the stress level at the original fastening points. (No cracks yet)
In addition, because I always like to know what's under there, I added a round, 1/4 turn access plates to the back of each board. With the plate open, I can see inside and easily see and reach the drain holes.
