Electrical Gremlin heads up

As some know I work for at a Naval marina where we rent boats. We now have 8. Five are 170CC and three are 170 Bass. My post is not a criticism but a heads up to 170 owners and possible others, as I'm sure that the connectors I had trouble with are used in other models.

One of the dock attendants reported a bad bilge pump and no running lights. When I first looked in the console, I didn't see a connector so I thought it was hard wired. After scratching my head for a while, I stuck my head in further and saw a piece of a connector peeking from the hole in the floor where the cables and such exit. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that it was geen and one wire had rotted off. I proceeded to cut the plug off and hard wire the harness. After checking another boat I found that the connector on that one was also green and the bilge pump didn't work. So far I had rewired two but I will check the rest. Those that have the 170CC might want to check to see if the plug is in the bilge or tied high out of the bilge area. It drove me nuts for a while and I hope this helps others.
