I almost opted for a larger engine when I bought the boat but didn't want a gas hog to feed. The 40 averages about 1.5 GPH out fooling around and averages about 2 GPH if I haul *** if you can call 25MPH that. Also it is very easy to launch, retrieve and tow behind a 2001 Pontiac Montana. And fits nicely in my garage. I couldn't find a better boat to fit my needs. We did get caught in a violent thunderstorm the last time out and had to make an emergency docking behind a vacant house for sale at there dock. The bilge pump kicked right in during the storm and keep it drained. The passengers got soaked. The Bimini top is not real protective in a thunderstorm. I almost bought a little C-Dory for protection in just such a case but didn't see any for sale here in Virginia so I got the Triumph, a great little boat.
I installed the Nauticus Automatic Smart Trim Tabs. Problem solved. No 150 should be with out them. I've been told they will be standard equipment on the 2008 model.
