Lightbulb Mounting a trolling motor

I considered mounting a trolling motor on the rear of the boat but when you move the boat through a stump field on a fresh water lake you need the control that comes with a forward mounted trolling motor.

I started the project by talking to a dealer in North Carolina that has mounted a half dozen trolling motors on the bow of the 210CC. He recommended the Minn Kota Pontoon version of the Power Drive motors. The Pontoon version comes in a 68 pound thrust with a 48" shaft and is a 24 volt motor. I didn't like the 48" shaft so I purchased the Minn Kota 70 PD with a 54" shaft. It will operate on 24 volts.

I have a metal shop that will build a custom mount out of stainless steel that will span the anchor and allow it to be deployed when the trolling motor is up. The motor will lay from left to right when stored.

The Power Drive motors don't use the sissors type of mount so they require much less height when deployed. After the mount is completed if the bow rail is in the way during deployment and retrieval, ie. if the motor can't deploy without hitting the rail, I'll have the rail cut and a hinge/pin put in so it is still fully functional, still looks right and will swing open to allow the motor to deploy.

When the job is finished I'll take pictures and post them along with the cost of the work.

Thanks for the suggestion
