Dang, I know I can get 150NM at least on a tank with a 140. Have you thought about just getting a small fuel bladder or a coupel 5 gallon plastic tanks with the proper quick connects? I bet changing out the tank would be a MAJOR hassle since the console is bolted down on top of it......plus you would have to have more fuel to store/treat and turn over if you store for several months.

Thanks MB, I thought about gas cans, but I didn't want to haul fuel above deck if I could help it. Yesterday I went 117 miles and used 26.1 gallons which is 4.48 mpg. We went Southwest of the Coronado Islands into Mexican waters and it was windy and rough. I spent most of the day bucking a mixed swell. I did a good deal of trolling and left the motor running during some of our drifts. I would say 140-150 is the max distance I would want to go and still maintain a margin of safety. I have friends with bigger boats if I need to go out beyond that.
So let me ask this: I have a 14 x 17 alum prop. If I go to a 14 x 19 what effect will that have on fuel consumption?
