On our old 210, I had the GPS receiver mounted to the top side of the grab rail on a pivot mount. This so I could lay it over to put the cover on the boat. I will see if I can find a picture for you 
As far as the rest of your question all I use is handheld VHF so I will defer those answers over to my offshore 210 guru OsperyVic
