I also mount the antenna on the top of the grab rail, height is not an issue with sat antenna, they actually prefer lower with out compromising line of sight. I did see someone who mounted it right on the top of the lock box, but could not find it. Another consideration is keeping the vhf and sat wires as far apart as possible. When looking for a vhf, DSC is a fearture we all should have, it connects to the gps and will tranmit your location in digital form in an emergency.
