What I found after hoisting the outboard is that the lower 2 mounting holes had a hard plastic plug which is used to keep the bolts from crushing the roplene, the only problem is they were 3/4 of an inch smaller than the transom depth. We padded the plastic plugs with stainless washers, and ruled the **** out of the hole thing, and put it back together. We snugged the bots during install, but did not torque them down until the rule was dry.
I just got back from 5 days of fishing on Cape Cod, and the only time I heard the pump come on was when the scuppers clogged up with puked up sand eels.
It was worth all the time to finally have it right, and not have to think about whats causing the water.
