That was funny and yea, I would just take it off the boat to save on the weight myself
To be serious though,
As far as the engine goes you should be OK, but I would do it again just to help keep the rust at bay. My biggest worry though would be the fuel that is just setting in that tank not being used unless you are sure you got it ALL out... If not careful it is going to turn to paint thinner and if ran in that engine (will not take much) will create more havoc than what it is worth You may wantot spill in a little Star Tron into the tank just to make sure what is left behind is treated also...
