Yes I did consider the use of twins, but due to the weight and the inferior structure of the transom I decided to go with a single. I do believe your suggestion of using more power would surely be a benefit. I already had the honda 130. I may choose to step up to more power after I see the performance with the 130. I bought this bought 4 years ago and it sat around for a couple of years before I decided to put the bracket. The 21 was the largest roplene boat made then. The bracket provides me with a bit more room and function. I had another boat I was using and I finally got fed up with fiberglas and went back to completing the 21CC. The Aluminum reinforcing box I used to replace the splashwell is a 100 ties stronger than the roplene structure that I cut out and it is completely bonded and sealed in place to the the hull and to the bracket. I even have a lid on top and use the compartment to mount my hydraulic pump for the jackplate. I plugged the scuppers as they were all but ineffective anyway. (more water came in then went out) Most small boats do not sit high enough above the waterline for effective scuppers. That's what bilge pumps are for. I also installed a drainplug in the bottom of the hull that selfdrains if the pumps fail. One note. I had a 25' cat and if they ever make a Roplene Cat I will buy it no matter how much it costs. I've owned over 30 boats from 18' to 36', all offshore use and the cat design is far away the best. I'm just sick of maintaining fiberglas. Sorry for the long post.
