I take a short piece of bunge cord and thread it thru a link of the chain close to the anchor and tie a square knot in it to make a small loop that I then stretch to fit around the anchor cleat. It provides enough tension to keep the anchor snugly in place. It also goes down with the anchor. That really isn't a problem here in Ohio in fresh water, I don't know how long that would last in salt water though. But this is something I plan to put more thought into to come up with something better this winter. I'll let you know if I come up with something better. I also took a 26 X 2.125 bicycle inner tube and cut the portion out that has the valve in it. I then threaded my anchor chain thru it and slid it on the last 4 feet or so of the chain. It silences the chain and prevents it from scratching up the front area of the boat.
