The baitwell pump in my 04 170 stopped working after it sat for the first winter. Went to use it the next spring and nothing. Pulled the pump and concluded water had sat in the housing freezing and busting the pump. My solution was an angled pump that sets at a 15 degree slant. Seems the water now drains out and I haven't had any problems since. Bought the pump and pick up assembly at a local marine shop.
