Thanks for the reply, I knew that this would have some issues as far as being legal or not and that this would not be a fix that triumph would do. I plan on having my boat safety inspected by the Coast Guard as soon as it gets all the safety and electronics installed. I will ask them at that time if this vent has any issues with them. Easy enough to put back the way it was.

But I feel that the operation of opening this vent while performing routine service or maintenance and not open while motoring should not be a problem. I know how the coast guard and many other agencies view spilling fuel into our water ways and the repercussions one would get if fuel was spilt during a refuel at a marina while on the water, or even at a gas station. Spilling fuel these days is really taken seriously. Just my thoughts on the matter.
