Our new Ladder is installed.

We went with Berto’s recommendation and chose the Windline WIN-TDL-3 Telescoping over Platform Ladder.

We chose the West Marine 12 inch Stainless Steel Handrail, Model 489112. Like Berto, we felt that the wider steps would be easier on our feet. We installed using 1/4-20 by 2 inch Stainless Machine Screws and 1/4" by 1 1/4" stainless washers with stainless lock nuts.

My drill must not be as good as Berto’s because I could not get thru the bracket under the platform. There is a washer on each side that holding onto that bracket though. I also used the Starboard as Berto described. The biggest challenge during the install was making sure the brackets were parallel so that binding did not stop the ladder from either opening or closing correctly. I used C-clamps to hold the mounting brackets before installing. This helped me find and hold the best mounting position before drilling.
