You'll want to use stainless steel screws and be sure to apply RULE Elastomeric to every screw you use on your boat. If you were mounting something that required a lot of holding strength like a downrigger mount I would suggest toggle bolts. You can do a search on the site for "toggle bolt" and see a few threads where they are discussed.
