I checked with the factory to see if they had an idea on this. Here was the response:

It is possible that the high speed pickup on the bottom of the hull is backwards. There is a recess in the brass pickup under the boat that should be facing forward. If it is facing aft then the pickup will not
be able to pick up water while under way. That can be fixed by loosening up the pickup and the pumps attached placing it in the correct orientation and resealing and tightening everything up. Or you can take
it into your dealer.
