Wade,
I'm almost embarrassed to tell you what I did to solve that problem.I had a 2004 170CC which was the perfect boat for shallow water flounder and trout fishing here in SE NC. I liked the fact that I could leave the coushion over the baitwell home or set it aside while fishing. I wanted to move up to the 190 Bay last year but I could not get use to the seat coushion over the baitwell. My dealer who is an avid fisherman said we could remove the piano hinge and use different hinges so I could take the coushion off while fishing. While all this discussion was going on I kept getting in the 195CC and crawling around on it. I kept coming back to that lovely, simple baitwell system that it has. I solved the baitwell problem; I bought the 195CC. That was a very expensive fix!!! All because of that piano hinge on the 190 Bay. Look at some different hinges in the many catalogs that you probably have or look on line at Boaters world etc. There are some hinges that have pull pins in them that you could replace the piano hinge with and just pull the pins out and go fishing. Good luck!!!
