I checked with the factory on this and here is their response:

Here are the motor specs that we recommend for the models we carry that we offer trolling motor panels on. If you would like to go bigger that is fine and we have only tested 12V systems but 24V systems are absolutely usable.
150/170's 42" shaft 36lbs. thrust
190's 50" shaft 42lbs. thrust
191 50" shaft 44lbs. thrust
So 54" should be fine.
