in your post you state you smell gas--is this smell diff from the smell the plastic puts off. if you have had the boat since 2000 i would think you would have experience with the "gassy" smell the plastic puts off. my 2001 210cc gives off the plastic smell under the console especially if closed up for any period of time. the only time i ever smell gasoline is when i'm near the gas cap . the tank vents thru the cap rather than overboard as in older boats. if you indeed smell gasoline inside the console area---it needs to be addressed with your triumph dealer sooner than later. i believe the console will have to be lifted off to get to the gas tank
keep us posted--we older model owners will be the first to experience the long use problemmatic stuff i'm afraid.

if your boat came with those little rinky-dink hinged handle drain plugs instead of the screw in sea-dog type, you might want to opt for making the modification to a screw in type. whatever type you have if the boat is on a trailer they need to be left unplugged.
i built a frame out of salt treated 2x2 with 1x2 slats screwed on top to get my gear out of the water in the mega hatch.Triumph has one made out of starboard that comes with the new models ,but it is pricy as an accessory. heck-- now i got formyldehyde stinking up the mega hatch and polypropelene stinking up my console. at least i got fish stinking up the fish boxes one out of 3 ain't bad i guess
