gas gage

i dont know about the rest of you guys but with the standared Fairs gages that come on the newer boats its hard to tell how much gas is in the tank even on com waters. the gage bounches around like crazy. couldnt the factory mold baffles in the gas tank to combat some of the wave action that takes place in the tank . the gas gage is just about usless on choppy waters. have any of the rest of you guys had this problem or is something wrong with my gage. its hard to keep a 72 gal. tank full all the time with gas at 3.25 a gal. but i dont want to have less than a half a tank scared i might run out. to me this a safety issue and you would think that triumph would want to fix it.
