We don't buy into the max HP thing, when the fuel usage charting continues to climb and the speed does not climb at the same rate, it's not doing the proper job. That's when propping becomes important. We have found that on a 210, the motor of choice is a 150. any higher is not gaining speed compaired to fuel usage. However, there is a definate downside to underpowering a boat.
We don't want to get into a contest on this topic, it's just our opinion.
Here is what we have found to be the motors of choice in testing Triumph Boats.
210-150hp
191-150hp
190-115hp [or 140 suzuki 4 stroke. about the same fuel, more speed]
170-60hp
150-40hp
