I would try a "Mr. Clean Magic Eraser". You can get them at Kmart or WalMart. Its a sponge just wet it and scrub. They seem to be the most popular way to clean Triumphs. I have the same model you have and I have never had any stain around the fuel fill. And I have spilled fuel there on several occasions. Also Soft Scrub works too, but the Magic Eraser is UNBELIEVABLE.
