What I did was to tape a fine tip marker to the inside of the baitwell and closed the lid on it so I knew where the lid closed. Also, you have a little bit of wiggle room on the installation but you want to get it fairly close to start with. Lots of measuring and then re-measuring also helped. Good luck.
