You may have done this already, but be sure to clean the galavanize off of the conduit before welding. That will help weld quality alot. Also the fumes from burning off the galvanizing is EXTREMELY toxic. I was building a minibike when I was a kid and just about passed out while welding after getting one breath of that smoke.
