possible water entrapment in your consoles
as a former owner of an '01 logic 186 now the 190 i made the factory aware thru my dealer of a possible design problem with the consoles collecting water between the live well and the outer wall of the console. well today i was at the dealer getting some stuff for my 210cc and i made a point to look at the 190 to see if triumph had addressed this and they haven"t. the dealer seemed to have forgotten to mention it or whatever but it was a possible major problem electrically. you guy's read this and decide for yourselves if you want to do this or not-----
it seems that after each rough , bouncy trip, everytime i looked inside the console access hatch to plug in the onboard charger , there would be this sawdust consistincy white stuff all over the wiring harness, back of gauges, and floor and everything appeared wet. the livewell is molded as part of the deck and the console sits down and is screwed to the top of the livewell. that is why there is a space inside where screws, wrenches and whatever will fall . well on the console wall that the steering wheel and glove box is mounted to ,the water will get trapped there and slosh out onto the wires and gauges. th sawdust stuff is the shavings where the wheel, throddle control ,glove box and that mystery shelf someone was asking about falls down in this space and as the water fills the space it sloshes out.
i found the quick fix was to drill a hole on each side of the console in the center of where it slopes to the deck on the steering wheel side of the console . i went with a 1/2" metal drill bit and stuck a water hose in the space and slowly let water run in the space until the shavings quit running out the 1/2" holes. took a clothes hanger and kept pushing it in the holes to keep them from stopping up with shavings while the water was running.
as usual i took a long winded explaination to get to drilling 2 holes to fix the problem, but there may be some owners that didn't know why there may be water there. like everyone says ---if there is a hole there's a place for water to enter and in this case collect.
