Randy, you may want to check the rocker switch on the throttle handle also. I assume that is the one that is only working one way. Those switches are subjected to the salt air more and one of the contacts could be corroded enough to stop the current flow.

Good luck. I don't think it has anything to do with you installing the batteries wrong. It's the remote switch for sure. Just need to find why.
