My understanding is limited, but basically the less deadrise the flatter the bottom of the hull as measured on angle to the beam. So, for example, a 18 deadrise will be a deeper V than a 14 deadrise. (191 compared to the 190). The flatter bottom will roll less but the V will cut through the water better. Less roll is better for fishing but more V is better for getting to the fishing spot.
