Remember, a "motor support" is not necessarily a "transome saver". A transome saver takes the wt of the motor and displaces it off the boat usually to the rear of the trailer.
A motor support is a good idea for my situation when the boat is in the water since I cannot use the included motor tilt saver due to the angle of the transome and the steering rod bracket...it will strip the bolts if it is tilted far enough to engage the support. It would take pressure off the hydrolic tilt when sitting overnight in the water.
Out of the water, esp while trailering, the bouncing of @500lbs of 4 stroke on the transome, over time, could possibly create a problem as with any trailerable boat. A transome saver helps to displace the momentum weight of the motor onto anything other than the tansome.
It might be a good idea to use both or even that 2x4 haha.
