It's been almost a year since I started that post on keel gaurds, I will say since then, I have beached or ran my boat into all kinds of nastys, rocks, sand, concrete, wood, you name it. All I have suffered is some scratches on the keel which can be repaired with a propane torch. I haven't even got around to doctoring it up yet, because its that minor.
I had a day last summer when we was docking, and a friend of mine accidentally hit the throttle and ran it up on some rocks/boulders. Now its not as dramatic as it sounds although we did hit the rocks with some degree of impact. My jaw hit the ground, and when we finally got the the boat out of water and I was able to inspect the damages. I was amazed that there was nothing more than some scratches and just a small dent in the keel. The boat was fine, I was really impressed and relieved (to say the least) If this was fiberglass, I could only imagine, It would of been real ugly and real exspensive.
