emergency gear
I have always kept flairs, whistles, compasses,paddles,fire extinguishers, first aid kit,towels, etc..on board. And I have always brought a change of clothing on board each day I fished, well almost always. Two weeks ago I fell in the water trying to retrieve a bait net. Good news all around. I was lucky in every sense of the word as I was dressed for the cold; winter boots and overalls,instant anchors. The water depth was only 4 feet ,I landed on my feet and knocked loose the net and got it back,
most importantly as the creek was an outlet for a power plant the water was
55 to 60 degrees as opposed to 45 elsewhere in the lake.
That particular day I had forgotten to bring a change of clothes. Again I got lucky as the Carolina weather granted me a 55 degree day as it warmed up and My partner had a spare pair of rain pants for me plus I did take home one striper. I went out the next day and bought non -cotten inner and outer garments and vacuum packed for permanent storage on board. Hopefully my
lapse in thinking will help save somebody Steve
