Welcome Aboard!
The factory mount requires the engine to be swung out of the way, and the rear deck pulled up to be installed "after" it is built so it is a little costly... I also did not like the fact that the post was always in my way and would not collapse down flush with the deck when not in use
One can also stumble over it when running from Port to Starboard when a fish has you in tow on the rear casting deck and I also found that the clearance with the rear fishing seat when a leaning post is installed is next to zero so... I had mine removed and the deck filled in.
I think you will find that if you have the leaning post installed and the back rest on the post removed (2005 and older models), that you can sit up on the leaning post cushion and do quite well yet still have the space to go to war with a big fish when needed
Matter of fact, most of the time now I just put the leaning post back rest in place and stand up on the leaning post to scout for fish up on the flats, that though depends greatly upon which kind of fishing you are doing so your needs many differ greatly
